Six and Bisti
The anti-western western.
While crossing the expansive Bisti Badlands, a group of young Diné traders discover and elect to care for an injured Civil War veteran. Their act of generosity places them at the center of a post-war conspiracy, which they must see themselves clear of in order to survive.
The Western genre has gone stagnant and is ripe for a breath of fresh air. When indigenous characters are not the evil savage, they portray the tragic “last of their kind” trope, or serve as a support for the “white savior.” ‘Six and Bisti’ flips the script with a story spoken in Diné Bizaad from the point of view of the people who are seldom positioned as the hero.
The Film’s Status
The feature film is currently in development but to aid in our march toward production we raised $2k in order to create the poof-of-concept trailer you see above. Below are two demos. The first gives insight into our post-production process and the other is a music demo from the film’s composer, set against location scouting footage.
