Nahasdzáán is a short film series of poetic love letters to one’s relationship to the land and mother earth. Each piece is provides a glimpse into one cultural perspective through language and moving landscapes of the place where that particular cultural thrives. The inaugural film takes place in around the lands of Dinétah. An updated version will be released in Diné Bizaad. We have now wrapped filming additional shorts in the Andes of Peru spoken in Quechua, across Hawaiian spoken in Hawaiian, and across Sicily in the native Sicilian language.
The first film in the series represents the southwest in and around Dinétah. The follow up is currently in post-production and will venture to the Andes as performed in Quechua by a poet from the region. Four upcoming releases that have already been filmed will take place in Hawaii, Sicily, what is now called Wyoming, and what is now called California.
